Eikanger Bjorsvik Musikklag recently held its 27th 'Feriespel' event where for four days over 100 youngsters enjoyed music making and plenty of fun under the guidance and supervision of the players, staff and volunteers associated with the band.
They were split into three ensembles according to age, with both current and former Eikanger performers providing expert tuition, tips and inspiration to help along.
Real highlight
A spokesperson for the current number 1 ranked band in the world, told 4BR: "This 'Holiday Playing' event is a real highlight of the year and our obligation to the brass band movement.
We know just how important inspiring the next generation is for Eikanger and for Norwegian banding. It also gives us inspiration and insight into the aspirations of young players. We learn plenty from them in return!"

Sharing vision
They added: "The Eikanger players give their time for free, which enables us to keep the costs to the families as low as possible as well as provide meals, social activities, the music making and even t-shirts.
The price for the four days is the same now as it was in 1997 thanks to that commitment and the help of generous sponsors who also share our vision.
Two players, Wilgot and Hedda from Manger Skulemusikklag and Sagstad Skulekorps also received grants to help with their further studies and development."
