Stamford Brass Musical Director Julian Bright is swapping his baton for running shoes this weekend as he takes on the Great Eastern Half Marathon in Peterborough to help raise funds for two causes close to his heart.
Half marathon
On Sunday 12th October, he will join thousands of runners for the 13.1-mile challenge, raising vital funds for Peterborough Rape Crisis Care Group and Stamford Brass, telling 4BR: "Running has become an unexpected but vital part of my life.
I took it up almost by accident during lockdown, and it's now essential to my health, well-being, and happiness. This will be my third half marathon, and I'm more motivated than ever."
Raise awareness
This year's run is more than just a personal milestone.
Through his efforts, Julian hopes to raise both awareness and funds for the Peterborough Rape Crisis Care Group which provides non-judgemental, life-changing support for anyone affected by sexual violence or abuse and Stanford Brass which continues to enrich local life through concerts, charity events, and musical outreach.
"Both of these inspiring — and very different — organisations rely on the kindness and generosity of people like you to keep going,"Julian added. "As you picture me sweating it out over 13.1 miles, I'd be truly grateful if you'd consider supporting me — or even just sharing the message."
