2025 4BR Solo/Ensemble CD of the Year

There were plenty of superb solo releases this year, but one stood out to take the accolade.

4BR Awards
Peter Moore's 'Shift' release has become 2025 4BR Solo/Ensemble CD of the Year

Winner: Shift — Works for Trombone and Brass Band (Peter Moore)

2. Beyond the Paradox (Tim de Maeseneer)
3. Virtuoso — Music for Euphonium and Brass Band (David Childs)

There were a host of excellent solo and ensemble CDs to consider this year (with a few that we didn't get to hear in time as well which will be carried over to 2026), but it was the stunning talents of trombone virtuoso Peter Moore that gained his second 4BR Solo/Ensemble CD of the Year accolade.

His 'Shift' recording on the Chandos label, featuring a stunning concerto performance of Simon Dobson's title track and other works accompanied by Tredegar Band showcased his immensely artistry and versatility to gain 7 first preference votes from the panel.

Close behind, 'Beyond the Paradox' by Belgian tenor horn player Tim de Maeseneer was a deserved runner-up, with David Childs and his 'Virtuoso — Music for Euphonium and Brass Band' release in third.
