The historic Durham Miners' Hall will host a special event on Friday 27th February to help raise funds for Marras — the Friends of Durham Miners Gala, which helps run and fund the famous Durham Miners Gala event.
It will see the RMT Fishburn Band, who are supported by the RMT union provide the music to an evening of speeches from the likes of RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey and City of Durham MP, Mary Kelly Folly.
The Big Meeting
Durham Miners Gala will take place this year on Saturday 11th July where over 200,000 people pack the streets of the city to enjoy the sights and sounds of what is called 'The Big Meeting'.
Today it is one of the last great links to the mining industry which since 1871 has expressed the motto: "The past we inherit, the future we build".
