Northop Silver Band will head to Swansea this weekend boosted by a quartet of new signings as they look to book their qualification place back to the Royal Albert Hall for the second time in three years.
The band will be conducted by Thomas Wyss on 'Elgar Variations', with new recruits George Pears (soprano); Arwel Williams (cornet); Chris Reid (bass trombone) and Christian Jones (Eb Bass) donning the red jackets for the first time.
Wyss return
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "With our Musical Director Ryan Richards playing with Tredegar we are delighted to be working once again under the baton of Thomas Wyss who led us to the First Section title in Swansea in 2024 and to fourth place last year.
We are thrilled to welcome our new signings, all excellent additions at what is an exciting time for the band with a busy contesting schedule ahead with Ryan back to lead us to the Grand Shield in May."
