Cory trombone star Brett Baker will continue to rack up the air miles with his playing over the next few weeks — although this weekend he is taking a much shorter away trip from his home in the Forest of Dean.
Swansea to USA
The morning after the Welsh Regional Championship in Swansea, he will head even further west with a trip to the USA where he will visit Dr Keith Wilkinson and his family. The two have been friends over many decades, with Keith having arranged many solo for him to perform and record.
Whilst there Brett will also visit Dublin City Band near Columbus to work with their conductor Tim Jameson, before heading to Chicago to work on a recording project with Brett Tolcher and the Chicago Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
This will include works written for him over the past decade by Paul Sharman and Barrie Gott with arrangements by Rob Wiffin, Ian Jones and Keith Wilkinson.
Chicago, Detroit and New York
That will leave just enough time for the Denis Wick Sales Director and Michael Rath artist to fit in an eagerly anticipated visit to Five Lakes Band and the Motor City Youth and Senior Bands in Detroit before then flying to Newark, New Jersey and present a workshop, recital and concert with Imperial Brass Band and their conductor Ron Waiksnoris.
