Red Admiral contests open for entries

The forthcoming Red Admiral Hymn & March contest and flagship Entertainment Contest are now open for bands to enter.

Red Admiral
The Red Admiral Academy runs three contest events

Entries are now open for the popular Red Admiral 'Hymn & March' contest and the Academy's flagship 'Entertainment Contest'.

Hymn & March

The 'Hymn & March' event will take place in the village of Croston in Lancashire on Sunday 5th July.

Bands will perform a chosen hymn and a contest march on Croston Village Green, with a total prize fund of £3,000 up for grabs.

This year, bands will also be required to perform a Road March — but one with a twist, with the organisers asking bands to choose a march that encompasses the Academy mantra, 'Making music fun... Making music together' with an additional prize for the most entertaining item played.

Entertainment Contest

The third editions of Red Admiral's entertainment contest will take place on Sunday 27th September in Chorley, Lancashire. Last year saw over 40 bands competing across 5 sections with a prize fund of £8,000.

Academy Leader, Danny Brooks told 4BR: "Red Admiral now offers a trio of contests established across the banding year.

34 bands will be part of a revived Fleetwood Contest after an absence of 13 years whilst we look forward to bands joining us for our other two events."
