Woodbridge 180th set for special musical tribute

A free 180th anniversary concert in the heart of London will see Woodbridge Excelsior Band celebrate with a brand new work from composer Alan Fernie.

The Woodbridge Excelsior Band is set to celebrate its 180th anniversary in May with a special free concert to be held at Regent Hall in London (W1C 2DJ).

It will see the band team up with Regent Brass as well as special guests Alan Fernie and cornet soloist Russell Gray on Saturday 9th May (3.00pm).

The event will also showcase a wide range of music, including the world premiere of Alan's 'Woodbridge Pictures' written to mark the occasion, and which will be conducted by the composer himself.

Fantastic new work

MD, Alan Duguid told 4BR: "This is going to be a wonderful, celebratory occasion but also one which at its heart will have their fantastic new work which is sure to become a popular addition to the repertoire for all bands — not just Woodbridge."
