'Lullaby of the Sky' is Philip Harper's adaptation of the exquisite slow movement of Maurice Ravel's 'Piano Concerto'.
Fade away
Featuring the tenor horn, the piece has a mysterious fade-away ending with the composer saying: "I've always been hypnotised by this achingly beautiful music and had it on my arrangement hit-list for a long time.
It's such dreamy and tranquil music that it seemed perfect to describe floating away on a hot air balloon, which is the context in which we used it for Cory's Brass in Concert programme in 2025.
The tenor horn is the lead voice but the fade-away ending brings something a little different to any concert programme."
