The demands that have come with an increasingly successful composing career has seen Ingebjorg Vilhelmsen step down as principal cornet with Oslofjord Brass.
The Norwegian has been a member of the band for the past 14 years, the last decade of which has been as principal cornet.
However, with her portfolio of works gaining increasing critical acclaim, she says she has taken the difficult decision to "prioritise"her work as a composer.
Awards and acclaim
These have included her breakthrough 2024 work 'The Cosmographic Mystery' through to 'Radioactive Discoveries', which was used as the set-test in the Elite Division of the 2025 Swedish National Championships.
In 2024 Ingebjorg won the 4Barsrest 'Best Newcomer Award', whilst in 2025, 'Embracing Duality' (above) was used as the set-test for the Challenge Section at the European Championships.
Earlier this year she was presented with a prestigious Norwegian Music Publishers award recognising the international scope and success of her work.
Prioritise
In her Facebook post she said: "The band has been an important part of both my musical and personal life. Leaving is not an easy decision, but over the past few years, my work as a composer has developed to the point where I can no longer balance the number of commissions with performing at the level the band requires. I have therefore decided to prioritise my work as a composer.
I wish everyone in Oslofjord Brass all the best for the future, and I'm certain our paths will cross again!"
