Kapitol Promotions has announced that they will help competing bands enhance their social media profiles at the forthcoming Section 1-4 National Finals in September.

Ellie Watson, who produces engaging content through her 'Life of a Bander' features on TikTok and Instagram, will be their Social Media Officer and will showcase the event and its competitors over the weekend of the 19th & 20th September at York Barbican.

Passion

Her social media platform @lifeofabander provides an entertaining insight into life within a Championship Section brass band, and has helped broaden the appeal of what she calls her 'passion', to a new audience.

Ellie currently plays horn with Yorkshire champion Hepworth having begun her musical journey with the successful Elland Silver Youth Band before going on to play with Wingates and Hammonds Bands.

Having graduated from the RNCM in Manchester, Ellie now works as a secondary school teacher and joined Hepworth in 2022, becoming an integral part of their ongoing success.

Thrilled

Looking forward to her role, Ellie said: "I'm delighted. Social media is a second passion of mine alongside banding, so I'm thrilled to be working with Kapitol Promotions and combining two things I love the most. I look forward to helping showcase the fantastic musicians, bands and stories that make our movement so special."

In response a spokesperson for Kapitol added: "We're delighted that Ellie has accepted this role, and we look forward to her promoting the event across our social media channels to all our followers, and to generate interest and engagement in the Nationals and brass banding."
