The cooperation band has announced that flugel player Stephanie Kennedy is stepping down from her playing role with the Brass in Concert champion.

It marks the end of a highly successful six-year tenure which has seen the Oldroyd Artist gain widespread acclaim for her performances, including winning the 'Best Flugel' award at Brass in Concert last year. Stephanie will dedicate more time to her growing work in conducting and music education.

Distinctive

The band stated that during her tenure she had "established herself as one of the band's most distinctive musical voices, while her contribution away from the stage had made her an equally valued member of the organisation."

That was echoed by Band Manager Alan Douglas, who added: "Stephanie has made an enormous contribution to the cooperation band. She is an exceptional musician and has given us so many memorable performances, both as a soloist and as part of the ensemble.

We are very sorry to see her leave her flugel role, but also incredibly proud to see her develop the next stage of her musical career. Her passion for conducting, education and developing young musicians is clear, and we know she has an exciting future ahead of her."

Youth and education

It was confirmed that Stephanie will remain an important part of the organisation through her work as conductor of the cooperation Youth Band.

Alan added: "In this role, Stephanie will continue to inspire, encourage and develop the next generation of young brass and percussion musicians."
