Camborne Band has announced that Musical Director, Dr Gareth Churcher is to step down from the role.

It brings to an end a three-year tenure which was marked by significant musical development and memorable performances leading and assisting the band as they returned to the Royal Albert Hall National Final, won the West of England Bandsmen's Festival and SWBBA contests and maintained their position at the British Open Grand Shield.

Right time

Gareth has decided that the time is right to step away from the role in order to devote more time to his family life, while also focusing on his increasing commitments as a composer and his responsibilities as Head of Cornwall Music Service Trust.

In confirming this he said: "This has not been an easy decision. I have been extremely proud to conduct the band and of what we have achieved together. There have been some memorable performances and successes during my time with Camborne, and I have greatly valued the opportunity to work with such a talented group of musicians."
