Granite City Brass has announced the appointment of Adam Glynn BA(Hons) LRSM as their new Musical Director.

Adam brings extensive experience as a conductor, performer, composer, and arranger, having completed 24 years as a professional musician in the British Army where he studied conducting under Prof Rob Wiffin OBE at Kneller Hall.

His previous conducting appointments include Plymouth City Brass and St Austell Town Band, alongside appearances with Championship Section bands.

He recently relocated with his family to Aberdeenshire and stated: "I'm thrilled. The band has a proud history, a warm community spirit, and great potential.

It's been a real pleasure standing in front of such a hard-working group of players already, and I'm looking forward to building on those strong foundations, exploring new repertoire, and taking the band forward on both the concert and contest stages."

The band took the opportunity to thank Alan Haggart, who stepped up to the MD role following the departure of Bruce Wallace in 2025, all while continuing his role on soprano cornet.

Band Chairman Paul James added: "We are really grateful to Alan. His support kept things moving seamlessly and gave us the time we needed to find the right long-term fit. We are delighted to have Adam on board now. Rehearsals are going brilliantly, and we are excited for what lies ahead."
