With Halloween approaching, it's time to add something a little darker to your concert programme with Andy Wareham's 'Tarot! Tortuous Tarot!'
Winner of the 2017 RWCMD Cory Band Composition Competition, it takes its inspiration from the mysterious world of fortune-telling and the centuries-old practice of using Tarot cards to glimpse the past, present and future.
Spooky
A haunting music-box theme sets the scene before the power of the cards brings variations and twists to the prediction, until the music-box returns for one final appearance, accompanied by a faint heartbeat that gradually slows to a stop.
It's an atmospheric and suitably spooky for Halloween, and also a chance to discover more music from an exciting composer.
