Following the success of its inaugural year of music making, the National Youth Brass Band of Northern Ireland (NYBBNI) is inviting young brass and percussion players to join its next chapter with applications and video auditions now open for 2027.

Launched in partnership with EA Music, the first NYBBNI course brought together 43 young musicians to share their love of music, learn from outstanding tutors and make new friends.

The inaugural concert was met with an enthusiastic reception at Enniskillen BrassFest, adding to the sense of achievement and ambition for the organisation.

Build

That is being built on in 2027 with inspiring music, expert coaching and the chance to play alongside other enthusiastic young musicians from across the country. Rehearsals take place on 13th March, 10th April and 24th April, finishing with a concert on the final day.

Brass and percussion players aged 13-23 on 13th March 2027, normally playing at Grade 6 standard or above, are warmly encouraged to apply. All are encouraged — so even if you may not think you are ready, the organisers want you to get in touch.

Application and video submission deadline is 31st January, with new applicants submitting a video audition to gain a place in the band.
