Finalists announced for OBAF composition contest

The three finalists have been announced for the inaugural Ohio Brass Arts Festival Composition Contest and the pieces will be performed on March 7, 2008.

OBAF

The Ohio Brass Arts Festival would like to thank all of the entrants for this year's inaugural Composition Contest sponsored by Jagrins Music Publications.

The three finalists are (in alphabetic order):
Battle Axe (Darroll Barry)
D-Day (Keith Terrett)
Ohio Festival March (Nigel Hall)

The Ohio Brass Arts Festival would also like to extend an Honorable Mention for the march A Light Divine (Jon Pittcock) which just missed the final cut.

All three pieces will be performed by the Repertoire Band at the Opening Event of the Ohio Brass Arts Festival. All brass and percussion players are welcome to sit in with this pick-up band as we read through new brass band music provided by Pennine Music Publications, Curnow Music, and Elms Music.

Following the performances Friday evening, the winner will be choosen with 1/3 of the vote coming from Jagrins Music Publications, 1/3 of the vote coming from the OBAF Executive Board and 1/3 of the vote coming from the members of the Repertoire Band. The winner will then be announced in due course later in the weekend.
