Brassed Off Attracts VIP

The highly successful production of Brassed Off! featuring Canterbury Brass at the Repertory Theatre in Christchurch, continues to attract audiences from far and wide.

Kevin McMorran, Shane Foster and David Kaye

At last Saturday’s performance, the band welcomed a very important visitor all the way from the UK. David Kaye of Krones UK and Band President of the famous Wingates Band decided he just couldn't miss an opportunity to experience the very popular play.

Here for the cricket!

David, an enthusiastic cricket fan, was originally here in NZ to watch the first test of the Cricket in the North Island. When he heard about the production showing in Christchurch, he decided to fly to Christchurch to see the show.

Shane Foster

To add to his excitement, when he was researching the play, he found that the musical director for the production was none other than Shane Foster, a former Wingates Soprano cornet soloist, who originates from Wigan in Lancashire.

Shane now lives in Christchurch and is also the musical director of Canterbury Brass who features in the play.

David commented, "I thought I knew that name! So I did some research, phoned Shane, and here I am!"

I have thoroughly enjoyed my evening at the Repertory Theatre with Canterbury Brass, what a wonderful play Brassed Off! is, the band and the production were just marvellous!David Kaye

After watching the performance David said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my evening at the Repertory Theatre with Canterbury Brass, what a wonderful play Brassed Off! is, the band and the production were just marvellous!".

Great success for all

Saturday’s performance was yet another huge success for all concerned. The play has attracted fantastic audiences, along with rave press reviews, and has had excellent advertising both on radio and television. The quality of the acting and the musicianship from the band has been just superb.

The play opened on the 5th March and runs to Sunday the 16th March, at the Repertory Theatre 146 Kilmore Street Christchurch.

After the show David enjoyed a relaxing drink with Shane Foster and Kevin McMorran.
