Hat tricks for St. Dennis

The St Dennis organisation has been celebrating a couple of hat tricks at the recent Truro Contest.

Last weekend both St Dennis Senior and Youth Bands competed at the
Cornwall Brass Band Association 53rd Annual Brass Band Contest held at
Truro Methodist Church, where both bands were out to defend their titles which they have held for the last two years.

Youth victory

The Youth Band performed 'Diamond Heritage'in the Own Choice Youth Section which gained them victory as well as winning prizes for the 'Best Percussion' and 'Best Bass' sections, whilst flugel Zoe Hancock was also awarded 'Best Soloist' in the Youth Section and also Best Player of the day.

The band have recently been informed that they will be promoted to the Championship Section in 2009 and are soon to start preparation for Bugle West of England Bandsmen's Festival4BR

Senior win

Meanwhile, the Senior Band competed in the Open Entertainment Section and secured their title by an impressive four point margin, as well as Andrew Julian (soprano cornet) picking up the 'Best Soloist' Award and the cornet section received the award for 'The Best Cornet Section'.

Promotion

The band have recently been informed that they will be promoted to the
Championship Section in 2009 and are soon to start preparation for Bugle West of England Bandsmen's Festival held in June as well as the busy summer season ahead of them.

Tintwistle Band

March 18 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd euphonium and 2nd baritone player to help complete the team.. We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.

St John's Band (Mossley)

March 15 • We are a friendly, welcoming 4th section band based in Tameside, Greater Manchester. Following our 4th place at the North West regionals, we are looking for a SOLO CORNET player (position negotiable). We rehearse on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
