Cwmaman Institute Band has announced a key new appointment in Martin Davies who has joined them on solo Eb Bass.

Experience

Following his departure from Mid Rhondda early this year, Martin has been playing for a number of bands in the surrounding area including the Cory band.

Excellent addition

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Martin is an experienced player of the highest calibre and he is an excellent addition for the band."

Martin joins a number of new recent signings including Karen Fletcher on 1st Horn, Sam Bridger and Alisa Rogers on 2nd cornet, David Bound on 2nd baritone and his wife Carol who joined on soprano from Tongwynlais before the Spring Festival in Blackpool.

Tide turning

Steve Stonelake, Secretary, told 4BR: "Signing Martin is a great win for Cwmaman and it strengthens our bass line as we continue to move the band forward this year. We’ve now signed a number of players over the last few months and the tide definitely seems to have turned."
