Stannington come out on top at the Battle of the Bands.

After a great afternoon of entertainment, the 3rd Ireland Colliery (Chesterfield), 'Battle of the bands contest' saw Stannington Brass take the honours.

Full results:

1. Stanninington Brass — 133pts
2. Shirebrook Miners Welfare (Unison)- 128pts
3. Strata Brass — 127pts
4= Deepcar Brass — 119pts
4= Hopkins Blidworth Welfare — 119pts
5. Cresswell Colliery — 107pts

Deportment, entertainment and music points were added together to decide the prizes. The best soloist award went to Julie Thomas, the vocal soloist from Strata Brass, whilst the Lower section band not in the prizes award was taken by Deepcar Brass. The Deportment/entertainment prize went to Shirebrook Miners welfare (Unison) Band.

The Judges were Simon Kerwin (Music); Martin Thacker MBE (Entertainment) and Michael Bagshaw (Deportment).
