Young Composers Premieres

The RNCM Festival of Brass wants young composers!

Young composers up to the age of 30 are being invited to submit new or previously unperformed works for brass quartet or quintet to be given workshop performances as part of the RNCM Festival of Brass, 30 January – 1 February 2009.

Selected works will be a maximum of 8 minutes duration.

Criteria

Brass quintet instrumentation: 2 trumpets, french horn, trombone and tuba

Brass quartet instrumentation: 2 cornets in Bflat, tenor horn in Eflat and euphonium in Bflat

The 2009 Festival, which celebrates the centenary of composer Gilbert Vinter, will also feature the music of Philip Wilby, significant works from the 1970s and a number of premieresorganisers

2009 Festival

The Royal Northern College of Music’s Festival of Brass provides a unique opportunity for world-renowned brass soloists, bands and ensembles to perform the finest and most original brass compositions from the past 100 years.

The 2009 Festival, which celebrates the centenary of composer Gilbert Vinter, will also feature the music of Philip Wilby, significant works from the 1970s and a number of premieres, all performed by the leading brass bands in the land, including Black Dyke, Foden’s Richardson and Brighouse & Rastrick.

March 23 • Wantage Concert Brass (First Section) have vacancies for CORNET (position negotiable), SOLO EUPHONIUM and BASS TROMBONE. The band placed 3rd at the L&SC Area Contest and look forward to forthcoming engagements in Wantage and the surrounding areas.
