Vinter focus at 2009 Festival of Brass

The music of Gilbert Vinter will be featured at the 2009 Festival of Brass.

Vinter

The 2009 Festival of Brass to be held at the Royal Northern College of Music will feature some of the worlds top bands and composers, according to event director Paul Hindmarsh.

Bands

The band staking part in the event next year will include Black Dyke, Desford, Fodens Richardson, Leyland, Fairey and Brighouse & Rastrick.

Although Cory were unable to attend due to a prior engagement and Griethorpe turned down their invitation this year, Paul Hindmarsh has much to savour. "I am looking forward to welcoming two bands that have shown so much improvement over the past year or so."

The themes for 2009 will centre on the music of Gilbert Vinter, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth, as well as Philip Wilby (60 this year), John McCabe (70) plus extensive music from the 1970s and first performances.
