New signings at St Dennis

After a couple of departures a few new faces have joined St Dennis Band.

St Dennis

In recent weeks, due to other commitments St Dennis Band has received a number of resignations. Fortunately, the band has also had a number of new signings.

New principal

Lee Wylde joins the band on Principal Cornet. Lee was previously playing Principal Cornet for Bodmin Town Band and he will be joined by his partner Kellie Roberts on front-row cornet. Kellie was also a member of Bodmin where she played flugel horn.

Meanwhile, following the departure of Colin Whitford, Dominic Turner joins the band on Bass Trombone from Camborne Band. Dominic also plays Bass Trombone for the Cornwall Youth Brass Band.

Return

Catherine Dowrick returns to the band on back-row cornet. Catherine played Repiano Cornet for the Band 12 years ago and now returns on back-row cornet. Her son James is also a member of the Youth Band cornet section.

Strong signings

To accommodate the new cornet positions, Robert Commons has moved to Repiano Cornet and Francesca Bazeley to tutti solo cornet.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "These are very strong signings for the band as we continue their busy summer season and look forward to competing at Prestatyn contest in October."
