New cornet trio at Blidworth

There is a new trio of cornet players at the Hopkins Blidworth Welfare Band.

Hopkins Blidworth Welfare has announced the signing of three new players to the ranks.

Trio of cornets

The cornet section sees Keith Buxton join on Principal, with Andrew Street coming in on repiano and Ann Street on 2nd cornet.

Keith and Andy have both returned to the fold having played with Blidworth whilst Keith has joined from Thoresby Colliery Welfare and Andy has returned from Bestwood Black Diamonds.

The band are now working towards a CD recording which takes place at the end of August and a busy concert season aheadSecretary, Karen Cretney

Working ahead

Ann was previously a member of Shirland Welfare Band but took a break for a couple of years and has now decided to return to banding to play alongside her son Andrew.

Secretary Karen Cretney told 4BR: "The band are now working towards a CD recording which takes place at the end of August and a busy concert season ahead."
