Bolsover District Council has announced a record entry for the forthcoming Bolsover Brass Band Entertainment Competition.

Exceeded expectations

The entry for the Contest has exceeded all expectations and there is a record entry of 18 bands set to compete in the three sections.

The day will commence with the Unregistered Section where there is two entries.

This will be followed by the traditional 1st to 4th Section which is now in its 3rd year. There is a record 11 entries for this section.

Championship

The Championship Inter-County Challenge now has 5 bands from 5 counties. United Co-op Crewe from Cheshire, Derwent Brass from Derbyshire, Stocksbridge Band from Yorkshire, Ratby Co-operative Band from Leicestershire and United Co-op Milnrow Band from Lancashire who have recently joined the ranks of the competition.

Established event

Carole Crompton commented to 4BR: "The entry has been astounding and I am looking forward to staging this contest which is now becoming an established event in the brass band calendar."

The competition will be held on Sunday 5th October at the Kissingate Leisure Centre, Shirebook.

The contest will be pre-drawn and details of the order of play will follow shortly.
