Matthew van Emmerik makes the decision to leave Waratah Brass.

Waratah Brass

Waratah Brass — Newcastle No. 1 and Musical Director Matthew van Emmerik have parted ways with Matthew resigning from the position on Sunday morning.

The committee regrets having to accept Matthew's resignation but the parting comes under mutually acceptable conditions.

Matthew has done some very good work with the band, always with enthusiasm, determination and excellent musical knowledge.Darrell Hodges, Vice-President, Waratah Brass

Vice-President Darrell Hodges stated, "Matthew has done some very good work with the band, always with enthusiasm, determination and excellent musical knowledge."

"We appreciate the hard work he put into the band for the Australian Nationals and NSW State Contests this year and we want to wish Matthew the best for the future."

Earlier this year, under the direction of Matthew, Waratah Brass won the A Grade Own Choice at the Australian Nationals.

Most recently, also with Matthew at the front, the band won the Test Selection at the New South Wales Championships and were narrowly beaten by Kew Band Melbourne for the overall Championship.
