2009 change for Bolsover

There is a change of venue for next year's popular Bolsover Contest.

Bolsover District Council have announced a change of venue for next year's Entertainments Competition and Championship Inter-County Challenge.

The new venue will be the Post Mill Centre, South Normanton, situated several minutes from M1 Junction 28, and within easy reach of bands in the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West.

The newly extended complex, which includes two concert halls, conferencing facilities, large bar areas and catering facilities has already expressed an interest in co-hosting the event for 2009Carole Hirst

Extended complex

Carole Hirst told 4BR: "The newly extended complex, which includes two concert halls, conferencing facilities and large bar areas and catering facilities has already expressed an interest in co-hosting the event for 2009 and this week final arrangements have been agreed."

Video cam

A feature of the new venue will see each bands’ performance relayed by video cam to the bar and social area, allowing competitors and audience to watch from the refreshment areas as well as watching live performances in the main auditorium.

Success

Following the success of the recent 2008 competition, the organisers hope to increase the number of entries for the un-registered section and promote the new ‘Championship Inter-county Challenge’ once more.

It is proposed, for 2009, to split the 1st – 4th section into two different sections; Section B for 3rd and 4th section bands and Section A for 1st and 2nd section bands.

Format

The format for the contest will be:
Championship Inter-county Challenge
Section A – 1st and 2nd Section Bands
Section B – 3rd and 4th Section Bands
Unregistered

Dates

The date for next years contest will be Sunday 4th October 2009. Bands wishing to secure a place in next year’s competition should contact Carole Hirst for details.
