Opportunity Knocks for Northern Youth

Not Hughie Green but Ray Farr, as a great opportunity knocks for yougn brass players in the North East.

Farr

Ray Farr has once again come up with a proposal which gives young brass musicians from the Northern Region the opportunity to get together and rehearse for a massed bands concert at the fabulous Sage Gateshead.

Young people can sign up for a group of 6 rehearsals starting on Saturday November 22nd (plus 2 weekly rehearsals on Sundays ) at Durham University.

Opportunity

It also gives them the opportunity to work on an exciting programme including 'Light Cavalry Overture', 'Salute to Youth', 'Air from Suite in D', and culminating in Mussorgsky’s 'Baba Yaga' & 'Great Gate of Kiev' from 'Pictures at an Exhibition'.

The rehearsals will lead to a Massed Band’s Spectacular at the Sage Gateshead, where the Northern Youth Band will share the stage with Reg Vardy, Fishburn and Ashington bands.

David Childs

If this is not enough, the concert will feature guest soloist, Euphonium virtuoso David Childs along with guest conductor Mathias Wehr, winner of the European Conducting Competition.

There will also be an informal concert for family & friends which will be given by the youth band alone, during one of the rehearsal days.

Details

Anyone aged 21 or under who is interested in getting together with like minded friends in the Northern region to share in this fabulous experience, should contact Steve Robson on 01388 537229 or
