Details released of the first 2009 Workshop by the South West Brass Band Association to be led by Goff Richards

The South West Brass Band Association has released details of its first 2009 Workshop which will be held on the weekend of 14th/15th February next year.

The event will be held at the West Buckland School, West Buckland, Barnstable and the tutors will be Goff Richards (Principal), Lt Col Chris Davis OBE, Jim Davies and John Winterflood.

TIMES: Saturday 9.30am for 10.00am until 18.00pm
Sunday 10.00 until 17.00

MUSIC: “Summer Snapshot” — new music for the summer season

WHO TO ATTEND: All brass instrument players — all ages — all grades

OBJECT: Intensive sectional tuition of new music by established
and experienced Tutors — Sunday afternoon will be devoted
to full band rehearsal and performance of works rehearsed
over the two days

AUDIENCE: Audience participation is invited (free) for a mini-concert which will be given on the Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5pm

WHAT TO BRING:Brass instrument, mute and music stand

COST: Whilst all applicants are expected to attend the complete
weekend, a facility is available for a 1-day attendance
Adults 2-days = £30.00p 1-day = £20.00p
18 yrs & under “ = £25.00p “ = £15.00p
(inclusive coffee/tea throughout the course)

FACILITIES: A pay lunch facility will be available both days.
Overnight accommodation (where required) is the responsibility of each applicant.

Alder Valley Brass

June 19 • Bb bass player. We are an ambitious, busy and sociable 2nd section band (L&SC, National finalists 2023) with a varied blend of engagements, concerts and contests. We rehearse 8-10pm Mondays and Thursdays in Farnham, Surrey. Other enquiries welcome.


Chinnor Silver

June 17 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet again on Monday (22nd) and we welcome players of all standards to join us for a relaxed,friendly rehearsal with Tea and cake and it’s all free.. Rehearsals are at 11am in our own bandroom playing with us does not effect your band.


Longridge Band

June 16 • Longridge Band invite applications for the positions of Flugel and Eb Bass.. We are a friendly and committed band that enjoys a great balance of concerts and contests throughout the year. A contribution to travel expenses are provided.
