Camborne gain millions success

Camborne win over £58,000 in Lottery success — although this prize doesn't get them to the top of the 4BR Money List..

Camborne

As recently reported on 4BR, Camborne Band took part in a head-to-head public phone vote on Tuesday in a bid to gain lottery funding to refurbish their 80 year old timber bandroom.

The project was featured on ITV West Country regional news that evening as one of the finalists of 'The People's Millions 2008'.

Winners

After Tuesday's votes, the Camborne Town Band Bandroom Project was declared the winner and offered the lottery grant of £58,472!

Marcus Dunstan, the Society Chairman, told 4BR: "We would like to sincerely thank everyone who voted for us. We are greatly indebted to you all! You can be assured that the money will be put to a very worth cause. Special thanks must go to Bob Seymour who ran the project for the society."

Renovation

The work, to completely renovate the aged band room, is due to commence in March 2009 and will include the building of toilets, disabled access and a storeroom; replacement of the ceiling and windows, and upgrading of electrics and lighting.

Celebration

Members and supporters of the band were again featured on ITV West Country yesterday evening celebrating the news and the whole band had the chance to enjoy a small glass of champagne after their rehearsal for the Scottish Open in which they are competing in this weekend!
