Enfield Citadel Band

Enfield Citadel Band has announced that Jonathan Corry has been commissioned as their new Bandmaster.

Enfield Citadel Band was founded in Tottenham, north London, in 1892, and has become one of the finest Citadel bands in Salvation Army.

Belfast born

Belfast born Jonathan is a fifth generation Salvationist, and joined the band in September 2008 from Belfast Temple SA Band after taking up a teaching post with the London Borough of Brent.

Jonathan studied trumpet with former Enfield Citadel Bandsman Paul Young, prior to studying trumpet at the Royal Northern College of Music. A Masters degree in conducting followed with James Gourlay, Mark Elder and Baldur Bronnimann.

Enfield Citadel Band has always been a band that have inspired me as a young SalvationistJonathan Corry

Delighted

Band Secretary Stuart Horton told 4BR: "The band are absolutely delighted to have Jonathan as leader. Bandmaster Williams in many respects is an impossible act to follow but in Jonathan we have a young man with all the necessary attributes to take the band forward
to it's next exciting chapter."

Inspired

Jonathan meanwhile told 4BR: "Enfield Citadel Band has always been a band that have inspired me as a young Salvationist. Their commitment, drive and passion is exemplary and it is exciting looking to the future with some interesting projects already developing."

Special thanks

He added: "Special thanks should go to Bandmaster James Williams MBE, who has taken an interest in me and is of great support and encouragement as he has been for countless young Salvationist musicians the world over."
