Wellington (Telford) Band's recent run of success showed no sign of slowing down after an impressive performance in the Midland Area Second Section on the weekend.

Competing for the first time at this level they were ecstatic to be awarded second prize and a trip to Harrogate at the first time of asking.

Credit has to go to our MD Steve Curtis and his brilliant directorship for getting us into this position. Now we need to repay his confidence in us by winning the Second Section titleMark Phillips

Five in a row

This sees the band making their fifth successive trip to the finals in September — the first Midlands band ever to accomplish this feat.

Having won the Third Section National title in 2008, the band were determined to make their mark.

Delighted

Band Secretary Mark Phillips told 4BR: "We are all delighted to have succeeded at this level so soon, and are proud that we have the opportunity to qualify for the fifth year in a row. Credit has to go to our MD Steve Curtis and his brilliant directorship for getting us into this position. Now we need to repay his confidence in us by winning the Second Section title!"
