Gawthorpe remembers inspiration

Gawthorpe Brass '85 to remember their inspirational co-founder and the help of a couple of old boys...

Gawthorpe 85

This weekend Gawthorpe Brass '85 will be paying tribute to Susan Elsworth, co-founder and leading light in the development of hundreds of young musicians.

Inspiration

Susan died last February and a plethora of musicians will be on show at Kingsway Church, Ossett to pay a musical tribute to her life as an amazing inspiration to so many people.

Workshops

The Music Funshop and Workshop groups will start the evening. These groups were led by Susan with the help of young musicians from the band and included children as young as 2.

The groups are now led by these young musicians who help the children develop a love for music and performing.

All sections of the Gawthorpe organisation will be represented with former 'old boy' Michael Howley, now solo euphonium with Brighouse and Rastrick as guest soloist4BR

Old boys

All sections of the Gawthorpe organisation will be represented with former 'old boy' Michael Howley, now solo euphonium with Brighouse and Rastrick as guest soloist.

Michael commenced his playing career in the Gawthorpe learner groups and quickly progressed through training and youth bands to the heady heights of top class banding.

In Memoriam

Compere for the evening is Leigh Baker. During the concert he will conduct his own composition 'In Memoriam', written in memory of Susan, which was also played at her funeral service.

The evening is free and if you want to attend, please contact the band on 0113 2735343/0113 2796201 or j.edward@zen.co.uk
