Cornet star Roger Webster is set to play with 2008 Scottish Champions Whitburn at the forthcoming European Championships.

Debut

The ex-Black Dyke and Grimethorpe superstar has signed for the Scottish band and will perform in Oostende. It will be his debut with the band, although it will not be the first time he has represented Scotland at the contest — he also played with the then CWS Glasgow Band.

We are obviously delighted that Roger has agreed to play with us and we look forward to performing with him in OostendeAlex Vidler

Open rehearsal

The news comes as Whitburn announce an open rehearsal for the contest, to be held at the Regal Theatre in Bathgate on Tuesday, April 28th, at 7.30pm.

The band will perform both the set-work — 'From Ancient Times' by Jan Van der Roost — and Whitburn's own choice test piece. Whitburn will be conducted by Russell Gray, who led the band to victory at the 2008 Scottish Championships.

Delight

Alex Vidler, Whitburn Band President, commented to 4BR: "We are obviously delighted that Roger has agreed to play with us and we look forward to performing with him in Oostende."
