Ireland celebrates...

Ireland Colliery (Chesterfield) Band has had plenty to celebrate of late...

The Fourth Section Midlands based Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band is celebrating after achieving its best contest results for over a decade.

Runner up

The band has been placed 2nd at 3 events: Butlins, NEMBBA and most recently at the Buxton contest, whilst they also achieved 5th place at the area contest in Bedworth.

Over the moon

Musical Director Ian Knapton told 4BR: "We are all over the moon and will look to build further on this success. These results couldn’t have been achieved without the hard work from the band in preparing the 3 test pieces we have played this year."

CD

ICCB recorded its debut CD last year and plan to record a further two in 2009.

As well as a busy concert schedule the band are preparing to host the Battle of the Bands contest on 14th June, an entertainment contest for bands from Sections 1 to 4.

Last year Ireland Colliery hosted its first major charity concert titled ‘Brass N Sax’ where it managed to raise a total of £3000 for charities including Leukaemia Research and the Anthony Nolan Trust.
