Lions Youth Brass has announced that Sarah Raisbeck will be leaving her post of Musical Director of their Junior Band in July, due to taking up a teaching post in Durham.

Sarah has been with the organisation for a long time, including playing principal cornet for the Youth Band.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "All at Lions wish to thank Sarah for her total commitment to the organisation, and wish her the best of luck for the future."

Family replacement

Sarah's replacement is her brother, Ian, also a former Lions principal cornet, who has spent four years at Birmingham Conservatoire.

He is also the bands composer in residence, and along with his wife Katie has just joined the Fairy Band.

Speaking on behalf of the band, Nigel Birch told 4BR: "We are very pleased to appoint Ian as MD of our Junior Band, and we are all looking forward to him developing the band."
