Tullis Russell send out SOS

There was a welcome distress signal sent out by Tullis Russell Mill Band.

Tullis Russell Mill

Tullis Russell Mill Band recently did their nautical bit to help the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) national fund raising day.

SOS

With a theme of 'SOS', they teamed up with the local Fife RNLI branch based in Kinghorn, to provide a ‘Songs On Saturday’ concert.

The event was quickly sold out as the audience were also provided with a winter warming lunch before being treated to a medley of popular songs from stage and film in a concert that featured the band’s flugel, cornet, horn and euphonium players all under the direction of MD Martyn Ramsay.

New venue

The RNLI organiser told 4BR: "Due to the popularity of the concert we have already signed up the band for next year where a different venue has already been booked to ensure that the hall can cater for the number of people who wish to attend."

Money raised from Saturday’s concert will go towards helping maintain the inshore RNLI lifeboat based at Kinghorn, which was launched 70 times during 2010 and rescued 92 people4BR

Hard working band

This is the first of many concert engagements the hard working band will undertake throughout the year as they perform in order to help raise funds for a wide range of organisations throughout Fife and Scotland.

Money raised from Saturday’s concert will go towards helping maintain the inshore RNLI lifeboat based at Kinghorn, which was launched 70 times during 2010 and rescued 92 people.
