Astley Youth to hold free workshop days

Astley Youth Band will hold a brace of free brass workshop days later this month — so why not sign up and enjoy them.

Astley Youth Band has been successful in achieving funding from Youth Music to provide several free brass workshop days.

These will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday 29th/30th May and will be open to all brass players under the age of 21.

All levels

All levels are welcome, including absolute beginners. Instruments can be provided and the days will be led by vastly experienced tutors, Helen Minshall, Toby Hobson, Samantha Raisbeck, Neil Raisbeck and Sue Stirzaker.

In addition, on the 29th May, 10 musicians from The Band of the King's Division will be visiting for the day to provide additional coaching.

On 30th May accompanists Ruth Webb and Pat Calcutt will be on hand to assist on solo repertoire and help with grade exam preparation. Young brass players will also get the opportunity to complete an 'Arts Award' certificate.

In addition, on the 29th May, 10 musicians from The Band of the King's Division will be visiting for the day to provide additional coaching4BR

Time and place

It all takes place at Bedford High School in Leigh (WN7 2LU). Each day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 4.00pm.
