No joke — as punchlines raise fantastic funds for Brass for Africa

Dave Robb's great joke book has raised smiles as well as much needed funds for the Brass for Africa charity.

Dave Robb's joke book has raised the serious sum of £1,200 for the Brass for Africa charity

Making brass band players laugh is always a difficult task — but the success of David Robb's 'Dave's Dad-Jokes!' book has been such that it has raised the serious sum of £1,200 for the Brass for Africa charity.

The book was supported by Band Supplies Ltd and the Scottish Brass Band Association and went on sale late last year at the SBBA Festival of Brass in Perth.

Success

Such has been the success that it has already passed David's target, with over 600 books sold, and plans to get a special children's joke book published in the next few months.

Speaking to 4BR this morning Dave said that he was amazed by the response. "It's been incredible, and my thanks go to everyone who has supported charity by buying the book. I hope the jokes put a smile on people's faces."

He added: "Brass for Africa does such a wonderful job that I want to keep supporting it with a new book with plenty of great children's jokes. The one's I've had already from some the children I teach have been brilliant!"

Did you hear about the one-man band player who bought himself a pair of new leg cymbals for Christmas? He had to take them back as they clashed with his trousers...Dave Robb
