National radio spotlights on brass

Performances by Cory, Tredegar and Tom Neilsen will be featured on BBC Radio 3 and Radio 2 this week.

  David Childs is one of the featured soloists playing the Edward Gregson 'Euphonium Concerto'.

Highlights from the performances of Cory and Tredegar Bands at the 2019 RNCM Brass Band Festival in Manchester will be heard on Radio 3 this evening (Wednesday 6th February at 7.30pm).

In Concert

The Radio 3 'In Concert' programme will feature David Childs alongside Tredegar performing the UK premiere of Edward Gregson's 'Euphonium Concerto' as well as Cory's Chris Thomas playing Ray Steadman-Allen's rarely heard 'Immortal Theme'.

Also featured in Tredegar's programme will be James MacMillan's, 'Jebel', and Hans Werner Henze's 'Ragtimes and Habaneras', whilst Wilfred Heaton's epic 'Variations' and MacMillan's 'The Gallant Weaver' will be performed by Cory.

Friday Night is Music Night

Meanwhile on Friday evening on Radio 2, on 'Friday Night is Music Night' there will be a live performance from the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London featuring the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Bramwell Tovey accompanying a brace of performances by BBC Young Brass Award winner, Thomas Nielsen. (Friday 8th February at 8.00pm)

He will perform 'Napoli' and 'Someone to Watch Over Me'.

Fulham Brass Band
