The NABBC Conducting competition is being held on June 8th in Eccles.

The National Association of Brass Band Conductors has announced details of the musicians who have qualified to take part in the finals of their 2019 Conducting Competition to be held at Eccles Town Hall on Saturday 8th June.

This year's competition attracted it highest worldwide response and after a rigorous first qualification process the 12 semi-finalists have been chosen. They will now have the chance to impress the adjudication panel of Bramwell Tovey and Paul Hindmarsh.

Worldwide entries

The competitors come from the UK, France, Norway, Italy and USA, and will direct the Championship Section Rainford Band in a short rehearsal on either 'Fraternity' by Thierry Deleruyelle or Gilbert Vinter's 'Symphony of Marches', with six conductors going through to the final.

There they will conduct and compere one of six items in an evening concert with the Eccles Band at Eccles Town Hall, (M30 0LH).

The evening concert is a great way to round things off, and with free entry we hope to see a packed and appreciative audience there to enjoy the proceedingsNABBC National Secretary James Holt

Free entry

NABBC National Secretary James Holt told 4BR: "This year we had more entrants than ever before and following the success of previous winners Brendan Breslin, Mark Edwards and Josh Geddes, we're delighted to offer the opportunity to work with current European Champions, Cory and current National Champions, Foden's.

The evening concert is a great way to round things off, and with free entry we hope to see a packed and appreciative audience there to enjoy the proceedings."
