The Wellington (Telford) Band has announced a clutch of new signings to help their challenge in the 2nd Section finals in Harrogate on the weekend.

Joining are Roy Osborne on soprano, Matthew Davies on Bb bass, Michelle Apps on flugel, Andrew Wright on percussion and Katie Kier who has rejoined the band after a spell with Bestwood Black Diamonds.

Secretary Mark Philips told 4BR: "Andrew and Michelle have both joined from Championship Section bands but all five players are hugely talented and will be a great asset to the band."

Make a mark

The band is hoping to make a mark at its first appearance in the 2nd Section finals on Saturday.

Mark added: "As this is our 5fifth consecutive appearance at the finals we are hoping to keep our run of success going. The whole band have enjoyed rehearsing the piece and under the expert guidance of MD Steve Curtis will play an entertaining performance on Saturday."
