The Co-operative Funeralcare Band has announced an addition to the ranks of the its percussion section.

18 year-old Thomas Lowe, a product of St. Patrick’s School and St. Andrew’s School in Coatbridge, and a former member of the Bo'ness & Carriden Band will join with immediate effect.

RSAMD

This week Thomas learned that he had gained a place on the BA (Music Performance) degree course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama in Glasgow and he will begin his studies there next September.

Thomas told 4BR: "I’m very pleased to have the chance to play with Scotland’s champion band and I hope to help them to further success. I’m sure the experience I gain playing at this level will be of benefit to me in my future career."

Future progress

Robert McCorkell added: "Thomas played with the band as a guest at the Land O’ Burns contest in Troon earlier this year and we are all delighted now to welcome him aboard as a band member. His presence will be a valuable addition to the percussion team. We will watch his future progress with great interest as he undertakes his studies at the RSAMD."
