Newsome enjoys test piece outing

Dr Roy Newsome had a great time of it recently at the Saddleworth test piece evening. Who said judging was hard work?

Newsome

"An evening which I enjoyed very much."

That was the way that Dr Roy Newsome described the evening of test piece entertainment at the Boarshurst Band Club, Greenfield, on Sunday.

Success

The event was organised by the MD of Boarshurst Band, David W Ashworth and proved to be a huge success withh over 350 people attending.

Each band played their respective Regional set work, which Dr Newsome then gave a written adjudication as well as addressing the audience.

Delighted

Dr Newsome delighted the audience with his helpful tips and comments about each of the works, which many performers who will be competing at the forthcoming Area championships found invaluable.

Excellent night

David Ashworth commented to 4BR: "It was an excellent night and I feel that everyone went away with a little extra insight into each individual piece, thanks to Dr. Newsome. I must thank all the bands for their performances and to the audience for their support. There is now no doubt that this will now become an annual event."
