Harper ready for conductors

Philip Harper is getting ready to welcome a new batch of conductors on his ground breaking course.

Harper

Philip Harper has spoken to 4BR about his forthcoming conducting course, 'How to Conduct Yourself' which will begin on 22nd April and run for 10 Thursday evenings in Bristol.

Interesting

'all 4 music' is the Leyland MDs brainchild and he is looking forward to what promises to be an interesting series: "We run music courses which are open to all-comers and the conducting courses have proved extremely popular. There is a wealth of amateur conductors in the brass band world, some of whom would be very pleased for the opportunity to receive some formal tuition. This is perhaps that opportunity!"

Three part

Philip continued: "The course starting in April is a ‘part 3’ course, in other words it’s open to people who already have experience of conducting but want some formal instruction in a weekly workshop-style format. It’s great fun and we work through some of the great orchestral repertoire, conducting live musicians. What’s more, at the conclusion of the course, we have arranged the opportunity for one of the students to conduct the Emerald Ensemble in a public performance in Bristol."

Interested

The tutor for the course is Jonathan James, one of the most experienced conductors in Bristol with international experience.
