Not even a volcanic eruption could stop Mount Charles enjoying victory at the Grenland Festival in Norway on the weekend.

Mount Charles

Over 750 musicians, from 25 bands participated in the Grenland International Brass Festival in Skien, Norway on the weekend.

Qualities

Every band got to show off their qualities though several concerts, in this unique festival, which was being arranged for the 14th time.

The festival accommodated guests from several countries this year, and despite the worries over possible flight restrictions due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, bands made the trip from England, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

...the Elite Division went to Mount Charles from the UK, who made a tortuous journey from Cornwall to play in the contest this year4BR

Cornish champion

The conductor's competition was won by Lars-Thomas Holmbeing, whilst the top prize in the Elite Division went to Mount Charles from the UK, who made a tortuous journey from Cornwall to play in the contest this year — all with the spectre of their flights being cancelled at the last minute due to the volcanic eruption.
