Results: Manx Music Festival

Plenty of great band and individual performances to enjoy on the Isle of Man on the weekend.

The brass band classes at the annual Manx Music Festival were held on Sunday 25th April at the Villa Marina, Douglas.

Victors

In the own choice test piece class, Manx Concert Brass pipped Ramsey Town, with Onchan Silver in third. Manx was also victorious in the 'March and Hymn' class with Rushen Silver and Ramsey Town close behind.

The 20 minute 'Entertainment Class' saw victory for Ramsey Town, with Manx Concert Brass runners up and Rushen Silver in third.

Adjudicator Steve Pritchard-Jones commented on how well all the soloists had performed and praised two members of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, Bobby Corkish on horn from Rushen Silver and Illiam Quane on cornet from Ramsey Town.

The 'Best Soloist' trophy was awarded to Illiam Quane for his performance of 'Virtuosity'.

NORTH LAKES BRASS

July 20 • North Lakes Brass are seeking a CONDUCTOR with the drive to take our friendly band into the 2nd section. . We are different from most contesting bands as we rehearse just once a week (Wed), have 2 full band concerts & 4-5 contests per year.


Rushden Town Band

July 18 • Second Trombone vacancy. A friendly Midlands 1st Section Band, Rushden are looking for a Second Trombone player to come and join us. Great repertoire and concerts plus contests twice per year. Every other year, the band goes on tour.
