Fuzz buzz captures bandsmen

There is a fuzz buzz about South Yorkshire Police Band it seems that captures new players.

The South Yorkshire Police Band has welcomed a number of new recruits to the ranks.

Speed trap

The respected Ray Speed, takes up the solo horn position from Dodworth Band after also playing with the likes of Barrow Colliery, Stocksbridge and Grimethorpe in recent years.

New faces

Meanwhile, Helen Tomlinson joins the baritone section. Helen is an employee of South Yorkshire Police and moves from the Rockingham Band. She has enjoyed stints with Carlton Main, Old Silkstone and Drighlington.

Rob Hibberd has taken up the bass trombone seat vacated by long serving member Mick Hunter who has retired from banding. Rob joins from Maltby MW but was previously a member of Shirebrook and Killamarsh.

The band is also delighted to welcome Chris Emblen to the front row cornet bench from the Whitwell Band.

Fuzz buzz

Band Manager Simon Davies told 4BR: "MD Leigh Baker and the band are excited by the buzz continuing to develop in the bandroom and filling the all important principal cornet seat is the band's next priority."
