Metal & Movement

National Australia Brass appoints 'Composers in Residence' and announces plans for future projects.

National Australia Brass

National Australia Brass has announced the appointment of two distinguished Australian ‘Composers in Residence’ — Professor Brenton Broadstock and Barry McKimm.

'Metal & Movement'

Both Broadstock and McKimm have a rich association with brass bands and their heritage. National Australia Brass has commissioned both eminent Australian composers to compose new works that will initially form the content of a two part multimedia project entitled ‘Metal & Movement’.

Fusion of Genre

‘Metal and Movement’ represents a fusion of genre and discussions are now underway between National Australia Brass director Professor David King and Raewyn Hill, artistic director of Dancenorth – Queensland’s leading contemporary dance company based in Townsville.

This 2 part collaborative project is due for completion in 2011 and the Australasian premiere of ‘Metal & Movement’ is scheduled for 2012.
